There are of course several different IDE's to use for Java. Perhaps the 2 most common ones are NetBeans and Eclipse. There are different benefits of each one I recommend you download each one and try out a basic Hello World tutorial in both IDE's. This will allow you to become familiar with both and then you can choose the IDE you like the best. Below are the download links for each IDE. I'm working on setting up Eclipse now. I'm getting an Android phone pretty soon and want to try to make stuff for it.
