So you may be wondering how you create a website since HTML and CSS is a little different than most programming languages. A lot of beginners start with something like Notepad just go get their feet wet with web design. However, once you really begin to get involved in it you'll noticed that Notepad isn't very user friendly. So most people step up to a couple of different programs. I use Notepad++ it contains all the features of Notepad plus it has syntax highlighting for the different programming languages and even features tabbing. Now some of the more advanced web designers I know use an IDE called Aptana. Aptana is an open source web development IDE. I have used it several times before and I do like it. The feature I like the best about it is the ability to test your code across multiple browsers for testing. Below are the links to both of their websites. Notepad++ - notepad-plus-plus.org/Aptana - www.aptana.com/If I was you I'd try them both out and see which one you like the best. I personally don't like IDE's a lot for web development so I try to stick to Notepad++. Also if anyone know's any other programs that they have found useful for web development just let me know and I'll update the list above.

I use Notepad++, but if you are just starting out, consider using Adobe Dreamweaver or Microsoft Front Page.

I've never been a fan of WYSIWYG editors like Dreamweaver. I used it when I first started but I didn't like it because it always put in a bunch of useless code that didn't even do anything.
